Here is an announcement we think many of you have been waiting for as many people have approached Dr. Holliday over the last few years asking when we were going to start offering internships again. Similar to the internship program Dr. John ran for 15 years at Aloha Medicinals Inc. We are launching an internship program in January 2023 at our new Jamaican facility – to teach people how to make spawn and cultivate any species of mushroom, with a special emphasis on how to grow psilocybin mushrooms. Besides his role as Senior Consultant at Mushroom Consulting LLC, about a year ago Dr. John also accepted the position as President and CEO of Ayla Bioscience Inc., an international biological manufacturing company working with all types of mushroom cultures as the production platform for manufacturing pharmaceutical raw materials and products, antibiotic replacement animal feed amendments, dietary supplement raw materials, cosmetic raw materials, and now through Ayla’s wholly owned subsidiary, Cyvex International, the world’s largest producer of Pharmaceutical Grade Psilocybin.
Cyvex has recently finished construction on our new Psilocybin Production Facility in Manchester, Jamaica. This is the largest capacity production facility for psilocybin in the world today, with a current capacity of 5000 kilograms per month. When our upgrades are fully operational by mid-2023, we will reach a production capacity of around 50,000 kilograms per month of pharmaceutical grade psilocybin raw material. We will be accepting six interns each month to stay and work with us in Jamaica. This internship will last for a minimum of one month, or perhaps longer depending on the intern’s desire and aptitude. There is no cost for the internship except for your own travel to and from Jamaica and your food expenses while there. Cyvex will be providing accommodations for the interns right at the facility. All interns will be working daily with our staff, learning the latest state-of-the-art techniques for the commercial production of psilocybin containing mushrooms, as well as any other species you are interested in growing. This program provides real-world, hands-on experience, working side-by-side with the best cultivators in the world using both solid state fermentation and liquid culture. As far as we know, this is the only program of its kind available anywhere. If you are interested in applying for this internship, click on the APPLY NOW button below to get your name on the list. We are going to be filling up these limited internship slots quickly.
Advanced Spawn-Making and Commercial Mushroom Cultivation Scholarships
Ayla Bioscience Inc. an American Biotechnology and Biological Manufacturing company specializing in the production of Medicinal Mushrooms and Mushroom Products. We are offering a scholarship Intern program available to qualified candidates in advanced spawn making techniques and commercial Mushroom Cultivation, processing, packaging and marketing. This internship has a special focus on the production of psilocybin for the pharmaceutical industry.
This scholarship covers a one-month period of internship with intensive training at our facility in Manchester, Jamaica. The scholarship fund covers applicant’s expenses for all required materials and accommodations in a studio apartment. The successful applicant will be responsible for his or her own transportation to and from Kingston, Jamaica, which is the closest airport. Applicant will also be responsible for all meal and incidental expenses while attending.
This on-the-job training course covers all aspects of sterile laboratory techniques, spawn substrate preparation, inoculation, growing and packaging of spawn for commercial use, and the cultivation of Psilocybin containing mushrooms and other medicinal mushroom species. There is a special emphasis on real-world sterility techniques and challenges, as well as detection and control of potential contaminants. During the course of study, the applicant may also be exposed to other mushroom companies using different techniques and facing different challenges. This is the only advanced spawn making and mushroom cultivation training available worldwide that gets into such depth of theoretical and practical knowledge. Specifically the following areas will be covered in detail during this course:
Isolation of Mushroom cultures from wild collected specimens and from spore prints
Identification of cultures using DNA sequencing and fruiting techniques
Maintenance and long-term storage of cultures for maximum viability
All aspects of sterile techniques as they relate to spawn making and mushroom cultivation
Choice of suitable substrates and the preparation of the substrate for spawn making and mushroom cultivation
Inoculation and growth of the pure culture spawn in various substrates
Harvesting and post harvest handling of the spawn and mushrooms
Real world problem solving as it applies to commercial mushroom production
The selection and engineering of steam sterilization systems for mushroom production
The successful candidates will hopefully have some experience in spawn making, mushroom farming, microbiology, chemistry, or other related biotechnology experience, although this experience is not a prerequisite. There are no pre-determined educational requirements, although this course material and training is aimed at commercial cultivators and post-doctoral level applicants. Each applicant will be reviewed on an individual basis, and previous education of lack of education will not qualify or disqualify any applicant but will be simply one of the parameters considered. The main thing we look for in assessing candidates is their desire to learn new techniques and perfect their existing techniques for the expansion and betterment of the worldwide mushroom industry.
