Based upon a 2000 square meter facility, the conversion of agricultural waste stream material such as straw and sawdust convert into usable products at the following scale:
Input waste stream materials
/ month |
Yield of edible mushrooms
/ month
|
Finished Soil Amendment
/ month
|
83,500 kgs dry weight of straw, plant waste, sawdust or other waste stream ag materials
|
81,000 kgs - 141,750 kgs of fresh mushrooms
|
69,325 kgs - 75,400 kgs dry weight
|
Recommended application rate of this soil amendment to marginal soil, depending upon the marginal soil properties is 750 kgs/hectare minimum up to 5500 kgs/hectare maximum.
There are no other waste products produced during this process. Everything that comes into the system in terms of the waste stream feedstock is turned into high value finished products, reducing or eliminating the waste disposal problems from the agricultural sector.
The feedstock materials that can be used for this process are virtually anything plant based that was once alive. This can be from grain production, tomato plant waste, tobacco waste, used pallets, wood, sawdust, even paper and cardboard. Virtually anything that was once alive can be used as feedstock for this process.
